PANHELLENIC LIFE

Sororities have always been a place for women to gather, build friendships, support academic pursuits, develop leaders, and provide a sense of belonging. Check out some of the benefits below!

Sense of Campus Community

  • Sorority membership provides an avenue to develop meaningful relationships, friendships, and networking opportunities that last a lifetime.

  • The sorority experience in college is much more than just a “party.” Sororities provide the transition from a woman’s home to a new “home away from home,” which is essential as she begins her transition to adulthood.

Social and Community Involvement

  • The Panhellenic Association is the largest womens’ organization on the CSUF campus. Even simply going through recruitment is a surefire way to meet new people and develop new friendships.

  • Panhellenic members are very involved on campus. Besides acting as executive council leaders and role models for their own chapters, many sorority women are also leaders in CSUF clubs, professional organizations, student government, and athletics.

Leadership Opportunities

  • Sororities offer a wide variety of leadership opportunities. That includes chapter officer, committee chairman or committee member roles. Being an officer can also help you explore your career interests!

  • The College Panhellenic also offers leadership opportunities for sorority members. (Click Here to meet our current Executive Board!)

Networking & Career Readiness

  • Think of sorority recruitment as similar to preparing for a job interview. The sorority experience may also prepare you for the future of work, which include communication, leadership, and teamwork.

  • You are connecting with other sorority members for help finding internships, joining honor societies, or finding a job.

  • As a sorority member, you are connected to a supportive inter/national sisterhood of undergraduate members and sorority alumnae in many cities across the globe. Nearly anywhere life takes you, you’re likely to be able to connect with your sorority sisters for friendships, job opportunities, travel advice and more.

Academic Support

  • Sororities usually have an academic chair or VP who organizes study nights, tutoring and academic excellence programs (e.g., time management, study habits), and generally ensures your GPA does not drop.

Programming/Socials

  • Being a part of a sorority means getting to participate in numerous philanthropies, socials, sisterhoods, and other events organized by the Fraternity-Sorority Life community.

Scholarships

  • Sororities offer scholarships for undergraduate and graduate members.

  • Sororities also have emergency relief funds that sisters can apply for to help them in times of need.
